Cisco Systems, Inc is to open a R&D center in Shanghai, China, it was revealed today. This move demonstrates the continued efforts by Cisco and other networking equipment vendors to establish a bigger presence in Asian markets. Cisco plans to invest an initial $32 million investment in the R&D center over the next five years, and will hire approximately 100 employees over the next 18 months. The center should open in Q3 2005.
