So, a news story comes out yesterday educating the world about the latest security breaches that affect most of us:

I notice that Advance Auto Parts was "one of" the most recent security breaches in June, 2024 exposing 79M accounts. My question, to anyone who has an account with this company, is this. Did they send out an email to you notifying of this security breach and recommending an immediate password change or no? Because I have searched my past emails and never found one. This seems like a no brainer for a company to due this but maybe I just don't understand how security works. Or is it not a smart thing to do this for accounts that have been exposed like this?

No companies don't know how security works. They are dumb, and they don't care.
Even worse, software companies such as MSFT, Google, Apple, Samsung, Huawei, etc etc are all protected by an ABUSIVE CONTRACT they force upon all users. These ABUSIVE CONTRACTS are called EULAs. If these EULAs were carefully regulated, or outlawed, all these companies would be sued by everyone, and they THEN would realize that being about
1000% more careful with customer data would prevent them from going broke!
