Origin PC, a boutique PC builder based out of Miami, has launched a new gaming laptop that's thin, lightweight and ready to tackle anything you throw at it (including virtual reality).
The EVO15-S features a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display powered by Intel's sixth-generation Core i7-6700HQ processor, 16GB of DDR4 2400MHz RAM and a 256GB NVMe M.2 solid state drive (plus a 2TB hard drive for additional storage). Origin has enlisted Nvidia's new GTX 1060 GPU with 6GB of GDDR5 for graphics duty.
Elsewhere, you'll find a custom backlit keyboard with anti-ghosting keys, Intel dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, a built-in HD webcam, integrated audio powered by Sound Blaster Cinema 3 and a Killer E2400 NIC. In terms of ports, you get one USB 3.1 Type-C, three USB 3.0 ports, a USB 2.0 port and an SD card reader.
The EVO15-S measures 15 inches (W) by 9.8 inches (D) by 0.69 inches (H) and weights just 3.96 pounds, an impressive showing for a gaming-first portable. Battery life is rated at just four hours and it's worth mentioning that you'll get free, lifetime 24/7 tech support.
It's great to finally start seeing Nvidia's 10-series solutions ship in notebooks although the fact that Origin went with a Skylake processor instead of the latest Kaby Lake generation is slightly disappointing.
Pricing starts at $2,083. Using the configuration tool on Origin's page, the earliest estimated shipping date I could muster was October 25.
