Hey guys due to some issues with third party app, I have to switch to IE9 as latest version of firefox is no longer compatible with the third party app. However, I am not sure if IE9 is a reliable browser which supports all sites.

Example:

As soon as I started using IE9, I thot I shud now keep updated version of Firefox as I no longer require old version of firefox because I switched to IE9, but when I tried downloading firefix 14 through IE9, the download didn't started. I repeated several times but no result. But when I used firefox 3, the same download started in an instant. I am not sure that this bug of IE9 will not affect other sites. Dam I am confused what shud I do..............

Keep using Firefox 3 or switch to IE9?

Regards,

Tabby

If you're going from Firefox v3.x.x, you will find most of your current addons will be disabled in FF v13 or v14. There is an updater included in FF that will update those addons when the author updates them- if you want to use it. I stayed with FF v3.5.x because I disn't want to lose some addons, but I was risking security so I updated to FF v14.0.1.

Every time Firefox updates, there is a chance of one or more addons not working.

But if you want to use IE9, you don't have to keep FF.

If you want to use Firefox but have some conflict from IE9 with it's addons, start IE9 in the 'no addons mode' to download the current Firefox. AFTER that is done, you can make either browser the default. IF you choose FF as the default, be sure to go to Internet Options and UNCHECK the line "Internet Explorer should check to see if it's the default."

I don't want to confuse the OP, but you might be interested in trying SeaMonkey
Its in the Firefox family & I find it faster & easier to use than Firefox. Its been my default browser for years.
IF you don't like it, you can use revo to uninstall it or any program you want to get rid of.(y)

Tha addon I am talking about is the "Digital Persona" which manages the passwords through fingerprints. I have checked for its update but there is none that supports firefox after v3. But it supports IE9.

I want to use FF v14 because its faster but cannot due to addon problem as all my passwords are stored in it. However IE9 which is also considerably faster than FF v3 supports tha same addon but I doubt IE9 reliability due to examples as described in the first post.

Although its just one bug I found during the my 02 day use of IE9, I fear there may be many others that I may ignore thinking network or website programming problem and hence miss those things.

As far is FF is considered, I found it reliable as I dont find and downloads hanging, incomplete loading of webpage, etc.

I want to know if IE9 is also reliable in such things. Thanks

Digital Pesona became incompatible in Firefox beginning with FF v4.

Try this:Use MS Fingerprint Reader with Firefox and Thunderbird...
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fingerfox-se/

Fingerfox (SE), is an extended edition of Fingerfox (More functionality).
(Note: The basic version of Fingerfox isn't compatible with FF v14.0.1, but it appears that SE is.

At some point you will have to decide:
Using an outdated, insecure browser to keep an addon
or
Using the current version of the browser with a different but similar addon.

It sounds like you want a guarantee that using IE9 with Digital Persona will guarantee your security. We can't do that. Perhaps you can email the company and ask how to recover your passwords due to the incompatibility:
Email: sales@digitalpersona.com

From my opinion I think Google Chrome is the best reliable browser. I like it more than Mozila and explorer. :)

Unfortunately there is no such thing as a "perfecr browser". People really ought to try SeaMonkey http://www.seamonkey-project.org/
Its in the Mozilla Firefox family & its my default browser. I also have Google Chrome which used to be super fast, but has slowed drastically. Opera http://www.opera.com/ is another nice browser I use.:)
